This is my 1986 Chevrolet S-10 Sport 4X4

It is the "daily driver" parts runner. The old 2.8L engine was tired and in need of some attention, so I have installed the GM performance 3.4L conversion.

The project has been done since November of 1999 and these are the parts I changed : Intake bored to accomidate the 40% larger Holley TBI, edelbrock headers, 2 1/4 exhaust through flowmaster muffler with a 10" supertrapp, three row radiator, Accel super coil.

The timing cover and oil pan must be used off the old 2.8, I Was able to get a new oil pump pick up tube by crossing the GM part number . The flywheel had to be neutral balanced and of course a new ring gear and clutch assembly. Total cost of parts including oil $2422.

It has been running very well and I have seen an increase in gas mileage of about 10% along with a big increase in power which required installing a posi-unit to keep the wheel spin to a minimum.

*Do to being unable to safely accomidate a child car seat I have sold this project vehicle and purchased a 2001 crew cab S-10.
Update: This truck was purchased by the company I work for and has become my parts/shop vehicle. The rear axle was upgraded to a G80 locker, because the lock-right was tearing up clutch springs. It is still a joy to drive.
